Winery Explorer — wineryexplorer.wine and the iOS app

Last updated: June 11, 2026

Winery Explorer helps you discover wineries, breweries, and cideries in British Columbia, plan trips, and track the places you've visited. This policy explains what information we collect and how it's used, for both the web app at wineryexplorer.wine and the Winery Explorer iOS app.

What we collect

You can browse venues, plan a trip, and track visits without creating an account — in that case, your data stays on your device and we collect nothing.

If you create an account (with email and password, Sign in with Apple, or Google), we store:

What we don't do

Where your data lives

Account data is stored with Google Firebase (Authentication and Cloud Firestore), which acts as our data processor. Data is protected in transit with TLS. Apple and Google sign-in are handled by those providers; we never see your passwords for those services.

Deleting your account

You can permanently delete your account and all synced data at any time from the app: Account → Delete Account. This removes your account, your synced trips, and your visited history from our servers. Data saved locally on your device stays on your device until you remove the app or clear it yourself.

You can also request deletion by emailing us at the address below.

Third-party content

Venue details such as ratings and photos are sourced from Google and the venues' own public listings, and are attributed in the app. Tapping directions or a venue website takes you to third-party services (such as Apple Maps or Google Maps) governed by their own privacy policies.

Children

Winery Explorer is about wineries and alcohol-related venues and is not directed at children. You must be of legal drinking age in your region to use the app.

Changes

If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date above.
